The 7th grade volleyball team traveled to Vandercook Lake School on Saturday to experience their first Saturday of tournament play. Despite playing well the team ended the day with a 1-8 record. High scorer for the Cats was Clara Bumpus with 11 points. Also scoring were Natalie Brosamer with 10 points, Paris Kay with 5 points and Lexi Downs, Gracie Pinney and Bella Wagner each with 2 points. Good job girls! The 8th grade Volleyball Team upped their overall record to 10-4, after competing in the VCL Jayhawk Tourney this past Saturday. In pool play they defeated Springport 21-14, 21-8, 19-21, and then dropped to Michigan Center 17-21, 19-21, & 15-21. Moving into bracket play, the team came out tough and played well taking the VLC and Michigan Center matches in 2 sets each 21-13, 21-15, 21-13, & 21-11, which moved them into the finals against Northwest. The girls were ready to roll at the opportunity to take on the team that took 1st place last year. It was an exciting match, as the cats pushed throughout, played very well, and defeated the team in 2 sets 21-16, and 21-12, to bring home the championship title and hardware. Top servers on the day were: Kamryn Ross 35 points, Kate Gorney 25, Julia Lehman 22, Presley McDonald 17, Kennedy Ross 14, and Deidre Gilbert 11. Also scoring were Ruby Foster, Izzy Kisor, Marin Chesser, Kaylei Smith, Grace Lewandowski, Taylor Boss, & Rayne Ross. Great job Ladycats!!
