The 2017 football season got off to a great start with a 43-12 victory over the visiting Dearborn Heights Annapolis Cougars.  After a quick 3 and out by the Cougars, the Wildcats quickly marched down the field, ending with a Conrad TD run to take an early 6-0 lead.  When the Wildcats got the ball back, they kept the offense rolling with a Hunt TD run and a Seel 2-pt conversion to extend the lead to 14-0.

After a TD by the Cougars to make the score 14-6, Onsted answered with a Hunt to Reinhart TD pass early in the second quarter to make the score 20-6.  Annapolis rally and scored what appeared to be a first half ending TD, making the score 20-12.  However, the Wildcats used the 2-minute offense to charge down the field, as Hunt found Hill in the endzone for a TD as time expired, sending Onsted into the locker room with a 28-12 lead.

The second half saw the defense for the Wildcats taking over.  After a long TD run by Hill to start the half, making the score 36-12, the defense forced 3 turnovers.  Reinhart and Seel both recovered fumbles and Barth capped the scoring with a interception returned for a TD.

Hill lead the Wildcats with 83 yards rushing and 19 yards receiving while scoring twice.  Hunt ran for 52 yards (one rushing TD) and threw for 43 yards and two scores.  Conrad lead the defense with 8 tackles.

The Wildcats hope to continue their success as they travel to Adrian Madison on Thursday, August 31st, to take on the Trojans.  Game time is 7:00pm.
