The Onsted Wildcats scored early and often Friday night as they walked away from Lakeview with a 49-12 victory over the hosting Wildcats.
Onsted scored first on the night as they took their first drive the length of the field, capped off by a 15 yd run by Senior Travis Hill. On the ensuing point after try, Junior QB Dylan Terryberry found Senior Rourke Barth in the back of the endzone to make it 8-0. On Onsted's next possession, the two hooked up again on a screen pass that went for 42 yards. There was also a penalty on the play that put Onsted first and goal on the 10 yard line. Four plays later, Barth punches it in from 1 yd out and Hill connects on the PAT to make the score 15-0.
Lakeview was able to answer on their next possession set up by a 60 yd run to pull within 15-6. However, on the ensuing kickoff, Hill took the ball up the middle for a 88 yard TD return to stretch the lead back to 22-6. On the next Lakeview possession, the defense stepped up with an interception by Hill to the Lakeview 22 yd line. It only took the offense 4 plays to score again, when Barth took a pitch 6 yds to the zone to make it 29-6. After forcing another stop on defense, the Wildcats took over on their own 28 and struck again on only 3 plays, ending with a 60 yd TD pass from Terryberry to Senior Tucker Bean. After a quick score by Lakeview right before the half, Onsted went into the locker room up 36-12.
The second was much of the same, as the Wildcats defense stifled Lakeview and kept them out of the endzone while the offense was able to control the clock and get scores from Hill and Junior Logan Robarge, to make the final score 49-12.
On the night Hill had 160 yards rushing on 11 attempts and scored 3 times (2 rushing, 1 KO) while going 5 of 6 on PATs . Terryberry was 7 of 9 passing for 137 yards and 1 score. Bean ended with 89 yards receiving with one TD and Barth ended with 44 yards rushing, 42 yards receiving and 2 TDs.
Defensively the Wildcats held Lakeview to 238 total yards. Barth (10 tackles), Junior Dylan Erway (7) and Seniors Luke Lewin (6) and Josh VanEtten (6) lead the way. Robarge and Hill both had INTs.
The Wildcats (2-0) open the LCAA with a visit to Blissfield (1-1) on Friday, Sept. 13th. Game time is 7pm.
